Our old favourite has just failed the MOT due to rust in sills and o/s front suspension turret. It is taxed until 31.3.11 and the current MOT expires on 4.4.11.
Second owner since 1991, in regular use having covered 132,000 miles, with oil changes every 4,000 miles and maintained regardless of cost. The engine is clean inside (photos available) and runs well, a manual choke conversion was fitted in 1991 to reduce bore wear. The last maintenance work was a decoke at 130,000 miles, including 4 new exhaust valves, seats re-cut & valves ground in.
The cambelt has been changed frequently. A complete maintenance record is available for inspection, together with receipts.
The interior is complete, including rear luggage cover and clean (although not immaculate). The passenger door has been slightly dented by a vandal, but the paint has not been broken so there is no rust and it should be possible to push out the dent.
The tyres are OK and a new Yuasa heavy-duty battery was fitted in January 2009. A number of back-up spares, such as Ignition TCI unit, HT coil, petrol pump, etc. are included.
I feel the car is too good to scrap and it could yield useful spares or become a restoration project for an enthusiast.
It is located in South Wales, near Junction 34, M4 and is being advertised elsewhere at an asking price of £100.00.
If you are interested I can e-mail you photographs and try to answer your questions.
Thanks for your interest.

Re: Polo Ranger Mk II,1300cc, 1986 (breadvan)
Did the mot tester define the rust as repairable?
Re: Polo Ranger Mk II,1300cc, 1986 (breadvan)
Hello, no he did not.
I've since checked with another MOT tester for a second opinion and the "repairability" of a failed car depends on the owner, if he thinks it is worth it.
I am taking the Polo to a garage on Wednesday 30th March for an assessment - I'll let you know the outcome. I'm having difficulty attaching photographs to this reply, but if you send me an e-mail address I'll send some to you.
Regards.
