Rear screen wash tank?

Post by aaronon »

Hey everyone,

I can spray window wash from the front window, but not the rear. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get to the rear water tank? I can't find it in the boot and stuff :S

Thanks a lot :D

I have this problem too where the fronts work but the back washers don't. On my 9n3 (so same for 9n and probably most others) there isnt a rear washer bottle, it uses the same as the front. But I took my car over a pit one day and tested it and found there was a break in the pipe somewhere as it was leaking everywhere. Try filling up your front washer bottle as much as you can to try and source the leak. I don't know if this was any help its just what I found with mine.

check under the glovebox area as alot of peoples seemed to have come off there with the passengers feet around the carpet area!

I don't think its something to be seriously worrying about. Just fill up your washer bottle, and see if its leaking. As I said it literally poured out of mine from about the middle of the car. You could have a different problem though it could of broken somewhere else or the pipe could be blocked? Good luck :D

this is a very common fault with 9ns.

i had the same issue, the tubing has connectors throughout the car and tends to come apart very easily.

firstly check the washer bottle itself, you can get to it throught the plastic wheel liner behind the passenger side wheel

secondly check the passanger side of the boot, pull back the carpet on the left hand side and you will be able to see the black pipe, there is a connector here so check if it is still connected

lastly there is a connector in the engine bay, you have to remove the airbox and you will see the black pipe, just make sure it is connected.

I recently had the same problem i found a split pipe in the back right side of the engine bay, that is the first joint after the washer bottle so might be worth a look.

Awk I'm so bummed that its a leak :(

I'm going to follow all that great advice tomorrow :)

I'll keep the water held for a few seconds and inspect those areas to see if I can feel wetness :(

Hey,

Just in from holding in the rear washer lever for a while.

I reversed out of my drive afterwards and there were a few dots starting in the centre of the car, going towards where the boot was parked. Then at the boot area there was a puddle of water on the ground. . And then two trails beside each other about 5 inches apart trailing off towards where I'd reversed my car too :(:(

I still haven't done this. . .off work for a week now!!

Can you help me with a little run through of what you did haha.

I don't want to get under the car in case it collapses on me and I die?

Is it easy to fix with a torch?

Thanks :):)

Haha no way! What about when it comes to selling it :(

I've also a crack in the bumper which I assume will mean whole new bumper :(

Might as well get em all done at once :(

Be interested to know if its actually really easy to fix it by myself though!
