Cambelt time! Main Dealer?

Post by BobbyG »

Hi all, the time has come to replce my cambelt. Is there much point going to VW for this, or would a local independant be just as good?

Price difference seems to be about £80.

If the price difference is only 80 sheets then I would get it done at Volkswagen simply because it would look better in the service history folder.
Normally the difference in price is far greater than £80 which is why people often opt for independant garages rather than the dealerships

As Ben said if it's only £80 difference I'd go the main dealer.

If the garage nearby that is cheaper uses 100% genuine parts and not cheap alternatives VW will match that quote.

Every year i get quotes from local Specialists that use 100% Genuine parts, then present the cheapest one to VW dealership they match it every year.Although online it states the garage must be within 5 miles of them the place that i made them match past two years is 20 miles away from them.

Well worth a go dude, and just push them to match it.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Mine's due this winter, getting it done by my local VAG specialist garage. Could go VW but he knows the car, and most importantly i trust him.

If i was in your boat i'd do what bradley suggested, if they price match its win win :D
