Porsche 4x4?

Post by PoloGTi »

I was at the Trafford Centre last night and parked just accross from me was a Porsche 5 door 4x4 off road vehicle!!!

Never seen or heard anything about one of these before, has anybody else?

I never had my camera on me so I couldnt take a piccie.

It just looked wierd, like not right at all!

Edit: A guy on another forum found a piccie for me:

Its an ugly sight isn't it? Its the Cayenne, which shares some of its components with the VW Touraeg. I don't like the front end at all. A 4x4 Porsche should not try and look like the 911.

Meant to be well renound for not selling very well!! I've seen quite a few and i have to admit i went out earlier and finally came accross when i liked!! Huge shiny alloy's (aftermarket, shot passed to quick to see what they were) blacked out windows (the car/4x4 is silver by the way) grille bits (bumper included) were chromed (i think), it actually looked quite smart. Other than that i hate them :?

Its certainly an odd-looking beast! Found some pics and specs for the Cayenne Turbo here.

I haven't seen any modified ones yet although I'm sure they're about :D

They're wierd, based on the VW Touareg by the way.

I had a ride in a 4x4 Porsche the other week, but it wasn't quite a Cayenne... just a 911 Turbo. 4.2 0-60 PROPER BO. 8)

See quite a few round my way being used on the school run :o The looks have generally been slated in the motoring press, but I really like them. Especially the Gemballa 700bhp version with the quad pipes-nice

I don't get it... big ugly thirsty america-oriented things. Last time porsche did something like this, it was a nazi tank :D
Looks like a new Micra on (even more) acid!

What's the handling like at 100+ in something thats as high as a kubelwagen but with much more ground clearance?

PS It's been around at least a year and in concept even longer before that, I'm quite surprised you never saw one before!
Then again I do go past a Porsche garage on my way to work!
