Polo is going

I test drove the new Mondeo TDCI in black and it's a 4 door Zetec S with 18" wheels and a bodykit. I feel in love with it.

I drove it again to check over everything and I was sold. Felt rock solid and the TDCI engine is a great diesel engine, very smooth and so much mid range grunt.

The Polo is a brilliant car, and I am a bit upset really but I feel let down by VW's attitude and inability to fix anything. I am sure they could if they wanted to. I also think the Polo is one of the best cars out there for the size, but the fact its taking them so long to get the 130 tdi out, let alone the GTI has made me angry. If they use a softer plastic for the dash, beef up the PD motors to 130+ people will flock.

*EDIT* I am selling bits and bobs. PM me for details or I may post up in the sale section. Main things are, VW rubber mats, xenon's, (need help with taking them out) bass tube, aluminium front bonnet gas strut, vag-com lead and plug, may be other bits will have to see.

I agree with your decision.
Unfortunately Volkswagen doesn't listen to their critical young customers. They love granny-buyers because they don't complain about rattles etc plus they will buy Volkswagen over and over again.
The power the engines produce is very limited. Airconditioning switched on and the car is a pain in the ass to drive in city-traffic. No power whatsoever.
And a stock Polo is really as boring to drive like it was a f*cking Daihatsu. Dash is made out of the worst plastics ever produced.

My next car won't be a Polo, that's for sure. I Like a lot of the car, but I dislike much more, mostly the no-fun-to-drive factor.

cus they cant hear the rattles!!!

Bit harsh Joy? I can understand though as the 1.4 75bhp is possibly the worst engine in the range

I notice VERY little loss of power with the air con on in my FSi.

Congratulations Scorpio! Those TDCi engines do seem to shift

Don't worry too much mate, you might be lucky and not everyone has these problems. Just annoying when you do get them.

I havn't really had any problems with my polo, very happy with it.
The newer 03/04 ones do appear to be built a little better.

If the new GT is out in September I may well be getting one. Although still very tempted by the Honda CTR, after driving a couple of them, apart from the seats the internal quality is still not as good as the Polo Sport.

I bought my Polo brand new in March 2003 (03 ) , my last 5 cars have been Polos but this one has put me off VW and Polos for life . The car was never out of the garage in the 14/15 months that I owned it and the service I recieved from VW was an utter disgrace to say the least . I got fed up phoning & writing to VW and fed up taking the car to garage and phoning and waiting for phonecalls from garage , having meetings with service staff etc that I traded the heap of junk in last week . The final straw came last week when VW said it gets you from A to B does it not ...... If I had wanted a car just to get me from A to B I would have bought a Â£250 car from the fookin car market !!!!!!!

I traded my 1.9tdi Sport three months ago for the VRs

The garage gave me Â£8900 for my Polo and I was gutted when I saw them put it up for sale at Â£10500.

It's now dropped by Â£1500 and they are in danger of losing money on my old car

. Seems everyone is jumping off the Polo bandwagon

Admittedly my main reason for buying another brand (within the VAG empire though

) was I needed two extra doors, more performance and most important, NOT A LOT MORE MONEY. Sure my Polo had a few squeaks and rattles but my car was one of the early models and to be honest you expect it these days.

Nothing is perfect â€˜out of the boxâ€™ it always takes a year or so for the niggles to disappear, so 04 models should be worry free.
