Hello!!

Just found this site...and it look as if it may help me!! You people seem to know A LOT about VW Polos!!

Anyway: I have a 2003 1.4 TDI SE in metallic silver and basically I want to make it look SPORTY(I'm 22-1st car you see)

are there any websites with pics of what I can get? alooys, bodykit, you know, please help me!!

looking for a TDI or cool badge for the font grill too? any ideas...

Your car is a Mk6. The Mk4 is what I drive (coded as 6N at VAG) and the facelifted version is the Mk5 (with the square clear headlights, dubbed 6N2 at VAG). The Mk6 is internally known as the 9N, this just means that the part-numbers start with that code. For instance, my parts start with 6N1, so I'd get "6N1 854 556 C82". The last bit is usually the color-code, if applicable.

Anyway.

Mole has a very nice silver 9N and he's expecting a bodykit IIRC. He'll probably help you better than I can. The 9N posse is quite big here, so I'm sure a couple others will chime in and help out. I usually tell people to lower their car first, as that makes the biggest difference IMO. But wheels are a good place to start too.

Oh, and a mod will bump this to the Mk6 forum. We'll carry on there.

There are quite a few bodykits around for the 9N now. Have a look at these:

I like the front end of the Zender kit, but don't really rate the rest.

You could also whack some R32 or TT pedals on to make it more "sporty" on the inside. I can put you in touch with somebody who can get you these. Also the TDI badge


Speedlaw is right, lower it! There's some kits around, and if you really want to know more I will do some digging and find you some links.
Can get anything from 20mm (that right nelson?) from VW, which wont void your warranty, to 70mm adjustable coilovers (warranty - whats that?!)

And again, Speedlaw is right! I have a Caractere kit on order, but I may be getting my money back if he doesnt deliver it soon. It's been a month. Can't seem to get one from anywhere. Everyone messes me around.

I like the Caractere kit best, by far. Runner up is the Zender kit, that's nice too. So thumbsup for Mole.

Oh, and doesn't getting coilovers mean you'll only void the warrenty on the suspension of the car? Or is it bye bye for all warrenty claims?

As I have to keep under the warrenty, if I get the VW garage to lower it, will that be ok do you think? also roughtly how much will lowering it 20mm cost me? is it quick? I'm guessing they'll wack me a lot for it?

You can get VW to lower it, but only using their lowering kits as far as I know.
20mm (hardly noticable in my opinion) can be done using some "sports springs" from VW. Not sure how much they will cost, but labour will be LOTS and all for just 20mm.
Nelson has been looking in to this, he will share his findings when he reads this I'm sure.

As for the pedals & badge.


Not a good pic but there are the R32 pedals.
Speak to [email protected] and say Richard with the 9N sent you, and ask him for a price for the pedals for a polo (he will supply the correct parts) and a TDI badge. Should do you a good price.

I'm not keen on bodykits I prefer to keep it as original as possible, but you may prefer to make your own subtle changes, LED lights, upgraded stereo (I now have the Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB which is fantastic) footwell lights, de-lock.

The front fogs make for a more purposeful look, Mole can help you here, he did a fantastic how too guide.

I think I can speak for everyone on this forum that we like new ideas so if you think of a mod but find it's too tricky to carry out or start let us know I'm sure everyone will help out.

20 mm is barely any thing if you want to get an idea of how it will look try jacking up one side of the car (front and back otherwise you can crack the windscreen) and the other sides suspension will compress. keep jacking until you get the desided look, thats how i knew i wanted such a drop. i can also help you with photoshop if you can give me a pic of the car. and yes the labour at vw will be £££ because i think there charging about £60 an hour now on suspension work (sombody correct me if im wrong) and its about 5 or 6 hours to do it and then after that youve got an hour of geometry to do which might be another 50 quid so it soon racks up. if you want the ultimate then coils are the way to go as you can lower it 40mm at first and then if its still too high you can adjust them and go lower plus if you like a seriously low car then the only thing that will go lower is hydros but you have to install a lot more equipment thet can weigh 300kg (not good for handling or acceleration) if you have any more questions then please feel free to ask as we are all here to help each other.
