Cost to fit lowering springs

Post by AlexLast »

Hey guys, my polo currently sits on bbs montreals that are 205/45/16

I want to lower it, will i be able to lower it on 35mm springs without and problems with the shocks or scrubbing?

Also how much will your average garage charge to fit lowering springs?

Thanks alot,
Alex

Often, people have trouble with old shocks starting to leak when they fit lowering springs. (It's about the seals wearing when the shock's used in a range of its motion, then moved into a different range)

The cost of fitting should be the same as changing a regular set of springs, but make sure you have the tracking checked/adjusted afterwards, as it can make a massive difference - leading to premature tyre wear and bad/unpredictable handling.

Only way to know is to check with your local trusted garage.

(Can't be more help - I do all my own spannering)

Hey Lad, i was looking at getting the vw montreal 2's the other day so went and spoke to my local alloy dealer. He told me that if i put the montreal's on with 205/45/16 and lowered it 35mm (40mm max) then i would not have to change my shocks. Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes and get some photo's up once its done. Would be good to see :)

Would personally get a garage to only do the fronts, rear is soooo easy and will save you an hours labour

I've had eibach springs fitted to my gt for about 2 years and they have worked with the shocks no problem at all.
