HID's - Which kit?

Post by Polo96CL »

Heya everyone,

Currently got some mad K HID kit fitted to my 9N3 GTi at the moment and the bulbs shine green, but looking to go for a more tame 6K kit. Would this kit be compatible?

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-35w-proplus- ... n-kit.html

HIDS4U suggest a more expensive "ultimate" kit for cars with canbus etc.

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-35w-ultimate ... n-kit.html

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Got mine on eBay (china in fact)

6months on no problems £25

H7 kit with 6000k bulbs

Honestly you can take the p*** all you like but I've had the expensive kits n they went wrong quickly so I'm all for saving money on little mods n getting the mods that make the difference

Info above might help lol ;)

I also bought a cheap kit from China. Been on the car 2.5 years and no problems.
£25 well spent.
And no you don't need the canbus version.

Quick question wrt these HID kits.... does any drivers flash you at night, i mean the light pattern from the reflective housing, surely this can become an issue :?:
i'm hesitant to install HID's cause i've been on the recieving side of someone who has not setup there HID's and then again i've seen how ace it looks when doen properly??

You should really get lens/ Halo reflectors when installing HIDs.

I've just bought a kit and lens projectors for my fogs. Installing soon. Will keep you posted.

I don't get flashed at all.. I put my mums mini up near the garage door and mine was next to it

I then just put them abit lower.. With hers having xenons as standard her line was perfect and easy to follow

I've also tinted my headlights so any glare would be taken away from the tint

China hids for the win :D

Ordered the H7's designed for the reflector headlights, I know they will never be like the real projection headlights but its the closest I can get to less glare without spending big money. Oh, and 6000k :)

I need to take the headlights out of my 9n3 as I can't access the back properly, is it a bumper off job?

To get the headlights off then yes it's a bumper off job.

Not difficult though. 15-20 minutes max

Bugger, is there a guide? Shame I can't just move it across a little. The HID kit I have is H7 and should slot straight in but the current HID kit has adapter plate which needs to come off and I can't get the screws that hold it on without removing the headlight. Its too tight as the inner wing is blocking access, annoying!!

My mate managed to fit his HID's without taking the bumper but I took mine off to do it properly. Then your able to hide the ballast behind the bumper.

My ballasts are mounted on the top under the scuttle, look good and tucked out of the way which actually looks quite OEM.

Can I just remove one side of the bumper then remove the light? Or does the whole bumper need to come off?
