6N2 GTI Cruise Control

Post by Polo Dan »

I've read a thread on here that mentions retro fitting of cruise control to a 6N2 GTI. It has a link to a post on a Lupo forum which has step by step instructions. I've also read that the instructions for wiring the loom into the ECU for the Lupo are different to the Polo. I know a few users here have done it and I wanted to know the correct wiring pins for the 6N2 GTI ECU and also where you've taken your 12v from please?

Any other comments on this would also be handy! Thanks :)

I am 99% certain I used the wiring diagram off clublupo on the TDI Lupo and it works a treat.

The cable i used was 1.0mm but it was too big to solder onto the ECU without proving difficult, be careful not to snap the purple retaining pin on the ECU as well otherwise the plug may not make proper contact and you wont be able to start the car.

Cheers for that mate, your steering wheel and carbon fibre dash looks wicked btw :D So according to the clublupo thread it's three wires going into the ecu and then a forth taking the 12 volt supply from somewhere, where did you take your 12 volt supply from?
And can you remember where you routed the cable through the bulkhead?
One other thing, was the fee for having in activated at a garage reasonable?

Thanks again sport :)

Bee, by, bow, BUMP, I smell the blo... paa forget it  lol

Anyway, can Neil or anyone share with me the route taken by the wires from the dash to the ECU and confirm which pins are to be used in the ECU also?

Thanks!

Here's what the cruise control looks like, albeit in the box :|

I'll be looking to fit it soon but would like positive confirmation of the wiring configuration please if anyone's been down this road?!

Please? .. Someone?! .. Anyone!!

Try getting them resized - you want 800*600 I think from memory. Photobucket can do this if you choose edit. Viewing this site on my phone chops all the images up too unless I zoom right out!

Got cruise on the Golf - nice thing to have!

If you need help coding it with VAGCOM, I'm in Aylesbury so could be quite close depending where in Hertfordshire you are! Not sure what changes you need to make, but if you find them out I'll happily make them.

Ahh I'll have a go at the photobucket trick, cheers for that buddy :)

I should be able to fit the cruise, run the cables and solder them into the ecu connector - I know nothing about the VAGCOM bit so gonna need someone to advise on what needs to be done there. I'm in St Albans so not too far from you, just need to know for sure about the ecu pin allocation.

I have no idea on the physical thing - not something I'd pay to have fitted so never looked into it! Think Neil (neilgti I think) did a decent post about what needed doing somewhere?

On most cars you just need to tell the ECU cruise is fitted/enabled. It's usually a case of changing the coding from ****2* to ****3* or something simple.

Happy to meet 1/2 way if it's easier for you though - just let me know once you've got it physically sorted. :)

Cheers Joe, I copied this from your thread:

Switch plug Pin 1 (white) to ECU PIN 68
Switch plug Pin 2 (blue) to ECU PIN 67
Switch plug Pin 3 (red) to ECU PIN 66
Switch plug Pin 4 (black) to ECU PIN 69 & ignition power

Few questions for you please mate:

Are they all labeled up on the ecu?
Does pin 4 need to be connected to two things, if so where did you connect to ignition power?
What route did you take through the bulk head?

Cheers for your help! :D

1) Do you mean my own labelling or the ECU pins? answer to both is yes.

2)Pin 4 does need to be connected to a reliable power source, i spliced from the headunit power cable.

3) I either went the same route as the clutch cable does, or slightly above where there is another grommet, i can check if you like.

hope this makes sense!

That's all good thanks mate, I've heard others take the power from there and if there's a grommet in the clutch area then I know where to look - nice one!
