Re: K & N
I wouldn't bother with the 57i kit Joe its a bit cheap and nasty despite being K&N (suffers massively from heat soak too)Joe07 wrote:Hi
Does anyone know anything about the K&N 57i induction kit? Is it any good for £70ish or a waste of money?
Thanks
Joe
Your best shelling out double that for either a BMC CDA or K&N Typhoon kit because they are both very high quality!
If youre purely looking for noise then get the BMC CDA kit but for the best performance it would have to be the Typhoon.
Ben,
Re: K & N
it would indeed.Joe07 wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-Typhoon-6 ... 0581180052
Would this be a good buy do you think?

The BMC does make a very nice noise however, it isnt too loud but sounds lovely with a decent cold air feed

Chavy? .....well it’s an induction kit so it depends what you’re views are on themJoe07 wrote:Is the typhoon chavvy or is it alright? Im in 2 minds!
It’s a great piece of kit and is more performance orientated than just noise!

Re: K & N
Its fine mate they dont drone like aftermarket exhaust systems, the K&N Typhoon starts making its presence known at around 4000RPM so you wont hear it unless you put your foot downJoe07 wrote:Oh sod it, its pay day on friday! Whats it like at motorway speed?

Me and a friend had a discussion about the CDs and the typhoon and what 6n2 gti 00 has said is the exact answer !
my mates got a CDA on his and it sounds lovely little grunt everytime he puts his foot down and he has a decent air feed to it. Butttt the typhoon does give extra performance and some say looks better

I had both on mine and stuck with the CDA Purely for noise despite the K&N being better quality and looking nicer too.
The problem with the CDA is they sit directly above the Inlet manifold (on the GTI) so performance wise they are not the best designed in comparison to the K&N which sits right by the top of the lower grill (on the long feed). The only downside to the Typhoon would be problems with puddles and standing water on the road but I dont think any water would get into the throttle body due to the design & shape of the intake feed.
They both get my vote!
