Car History Thread - What did you own before/after the Polo?
Bit of fun guys & gals
I tend to keep my cars for a while so I have only had 3 cars since passing my test
1st Car - 1986 MG Metro 1300 - Retro Hatchback!
I rolled about in this for nearly 2 years it was immaculate! Bit of a strange choice for a young lad but I always had a soft spot for the MG Metro's, especially the Turbo's!
Good little cars despite the bad reputation! I still actually own this car but its going to be sold later this year
Spec - 13" Team Dynamic alloys, Maniflow exhaust system, Uprated shocks, Metro Turbo Rear ARB, K&N Bolt on Carb filter & various engine bling!
2nd Car - 2000 Volskwagen Polo GTI
Well most of you will already know this car which is now owned by Mandy
I looked at these for over 12 months before actually buying one, picked it up in 2008 from South Wales and loved every minute of my ownership!
Without doubt the most enjoyable car I have owned, the looks and attention it got was awesome!
Spec (When I owned it) - 16" BBS RXII's with T1R tyres, Spax RSX Coilovers, EBC Discs & Pads, Tinted windows, BMC CDA, Xenon bulb upgrades, Smooth Bumpers & Mongoose Exhaust
3rd (Current) Car - 2005 Honda Civic Type R
Picked this up in June 2011 from Newport in South Wales (all my cars seem to be from South Wales)
I was tempted by the EP3 after going on several Honda meets with my mate and I was looking to replace the Polo so eventually decided to get one! I wanted a Milano Red EP3 originally but after going to Gloucester to see a "Pink" one it put me off the Milano's as they are notorious for fading. The very next day I travelled to Newport and bought this beauty!
Current Spec - Tegiwa Carbon Airbox, Spoon N1 backbox, Supersprint Un-silenced B-Pipe, Piper 4-2-1 Manifold with 200 Cell Sports CAT, Eibach Pro Kit Springs, Eibach front Camber Bolts & Rear camber arms, Tegiwa Lower control arms, Tegiwa Tie Bar, JDM Rear ARB, J's racing Strut Brace, Spoon socks, Carbon plug & Inlet covers, Red intake & breather hoses, Mugen Oil Cap & radiator Cap, Stainless Dome nuts & K20 washers, ABP Motorsport FRSU, Energy Suspension Engine Mounts, 02 Simulator, Pre-Facelift rear lights & Yokohoma Prade Spec 2 tyres all round!
- June Updates - K100 Hondata ECU chip, RBC inlet Manifold (Port matched), 70mm Bill throttle body & TDI North Re-map!
- Future Plans - Wavertec LSD, Stoptech BBK 330mm brake kit, Toda A3 Cams, Wheel Refurb, Toyo R888's & More Carbon bits!
I bought this car and had intended to keep it standard
Right that's my car History - So what's yours???

Re: Car History Thread - What did you own before/after the P
1) FIAT Punto 2a - not bad, quite basic, but scary brakes!
2) Skoda Fabia (the Joda) - decent car when it worked. Which wasn't often!
3) VW Polo (the Jolo) - most fun car I've owned. My favourite looking too, and most coveted by my friends. Kept it for the longest, and alongside 4, 5 and 6. Only thing I've ever had to do to keep it on the road is tyres. And a coil pack after one of the prongs shattered.
4) RX-8 231 (the Jazda) - pretty epic piece of machinery. Too expensive to run, and not much fun on the roads due to the high levels of grip you never really push the car. Fantastic noise and engine though! The best MPG of 22 put me off driving it anyway. Kinda defeats the point of a car and the final nail in its coffin.
5) Golf 4 GTTDI 150 (the Jolf). I think I'd be right in saying it's the worst car I've ever driven. Crap handling, MASSIVE body roll, crap brakes, not fast, not fun, not a good noise, not good looking, bland inside. Comfy ish though and not bad on fuel.
6) Looking to replace the Golf. Thinking 330d maybe?
Not a great list, but I've only just turned 21 in my defence!

Car History Thread - What did you own before/after the Polo?
1) Peugeot 206 1.9D
I was given this car as my first car. Belonged to my sister. Had been in a smash and was a scary motor indeed. Had no power and seemed to just have a constant oil leak. Also had a massive dent in the drivers side quarter panel where someone drove into the side of me at some traffic lights.
The throttle cable snapped one day in a town centre and I bumped into a polish man who managed to work out the problem and tie the cable together. This caused the car to idle quite high despite the pedal lying really low and having next to no travel.
The brake servo hissed constantly until I put my foot on the brakes (I think) and the pedal always felt hard like when you have the car turned off and you pump the pedal.
The clutch 'went' on me one day too... Being only 17 and inexperienced I drove home (~30 miles) in 2nd rather than trying to rev match.
The engine used to cut out too. Just whenever it felt like it the engine would cut.. It was apparently a fuel pump issue but I'm not so sure, so had that replaced and the issue was resolved until...
A few weeks later the cambelt snapped and that was that. It lay on my drive for weeks and I eventually sold the car for parts and it was gone.
Worst. Car. Ever.
2) VW Polo 6n2 1.9D
I spent a long time researched the 6n2. Loved how it looked and how modern they looked for the price too. Cheap to run and insure. This one I bought I sort of stumbled across by chance after nearly giving up looking for one in decent condition. Never caused me any problems and still have it today (my dad owns it now). He's looked after it well. It's on something like 180,000 miles now.
3) VW Polo 6n2 GTi
I love this car and hate it sometimes. Sometimes it just doesn't feel like it runs properly (still has a jumpy throttle and feeling a little flat) but bar the gearbox it's caused me no REAL big problems and I've had a lot of fun with it. Just wish I could afford to spend the money on it to make it mint.

Those 220 Turbos were seriously underrated, the guy I bought my Metro from had a couple of them which were immaculate! (Heavily modified too)
I doubt there are many of them left on the roads these days
