I have done my minor service myself (oil and oil filter change) but not sure how to reset the warning that comes up when I start my car to say its due - is this something I can do or am I forced in to paying VW?
Thanks in advance

You can reset it yourself by doing the following.
With ignition off press and hold the reset knob for the trip meter.
Turn the ignition on and turn the reset button to the right. The display will return to the normal mode.

Thanks for the replies!
It's the spanner - will try this when I get home to reset it!
Thanks again!
