Gearbox recon in Stoke-on-trent/west midlands

I've just purchased a GTI and the box is showing signs of wearing. The gears can be hard to select sometimes, and often crunches going into second from first. The clutch is also very heavy but i suspect this may just be a work clutch cable. Has anyone got any idea where i could get a recon done? Thanks

I drove from Birmingham to Kent with a knackered box (god knows how i managed it).

1st Gear Transmissions (http://1stgeartransmissions.co.uk/) did the work for £495 and the box has been sweet as a nut since and the gears are still nice and tight two years later
