Removing Instrument Cluster

Remove one torque screw from the centre under cluster visor.

Then grab the rear of the visor closest to the windscreen and pull towards the rear of the car, you must pull hard to release it, it will unclip but it is hard work, once the visor is off the other torque screws are easy to spot, take care when removing the two plugs on the back of the cluster they have a clip that you have to lift up at one end and fold 180 degrees to remove the plugs, the mileage will remain the same once you reconnect the plugs.

What is wrong with yours.

Awesome! Just the job, thanks.

Nothing's actually wrong with mine, I'm interested in finding an RPM sensor wire, and the instrument panel would seem an easier place to start than the ECU! Don't suppose you have any ideas which wire it might be? ;)

Sorry have not got a clue lots of wires go to both the plugs.

Hmm. Well, I got the hood off, but I broke three clips in the process

My own fault, I misinterpreted what you meant, and even though I didn't pull particularly hard, bust where the visor mounts to the dash. Guess I'll be getting a new part from VW :?

Thanks for your help though!
