Sqeaky Suspension.....
Hi guys,
I've got a 62 plate Match in Candy White and can't believe I've had it 6 months!!!
However, a couple of days ago, I started to notice a small squeak from the front when going over a speed bump, even at really low speeds.
I am thinking that it could be the shock absorbers but unsure..... I should also say that over the last couple of weeks, I've started going a different way to work, of which contains some really harsh speedbumps and the car only started sqeaking after this time.
What do you guys think?
p.s. The car is still on standard suspension.

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
I have been getting a noise that sound like the shock absorbers could be loose. i took it to the dealers but they found nothing, i think im going to take it back again though. It doesnt feel right
Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Really strange you have posted this, I just logged on to post the exact same issue! Mines the front offside and it seems to squeak when going over bumps! The only difference being I've done 36,000 miles! I'd be interested in seeing what advise/information appears on this thread!
Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Mines on nearly 29000miles now and is creaking a lot now, it seems to be coming from the rear though, maybe it's to do with the winter months? And call me paranoid but it's increased ever since I gave the arches a good clean, maybe ivewashed away any grease/lubricant?
Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Yeah i also have a noise with my rear suspension when i go over a fooked piece of road it sounds like a loose shocker! I think it maybe either the plastic floor shields rattling, the rear arch liners rattling, the shocker boots rattling or it could be the decompression flaps that are rattling.
Or i could be wrong

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
The 9n was known to rattle and squeak when the suspension bushings (rear control arms maybe) were dead. They tended to last about 70k though before dying.
Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
I have a 62 plate polo, exactly the same problem, passengers side squeak. I am getting my dealer have a look at it when it goes for its 10K service this week.

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Its a new epidemic on the 6R.
For me the noise is not getting worse but definatley not getting better.
...Think I will take it into the dealers soon....only 4000 miles done on the car btw

Sqeaky Suspension.....
I've got a squeak in my door it's really faint but I can't find the source! Really frustrating haha no suspension noise for me tho... Yet :/
Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
I can't believe this! I have the exact same problem. Seems to be the front left suspension, when I'm going over even a slight bump let alone a speed bump, it squeaks and creaks
I took it to VW and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with the suspension and ordered some 'grommets' for a loose cap in the engine. Made no difference whatsoever.
Edit: my polo is the 1.2 Match TDi, 14000 miles. Noticed it about before christmas.

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Mine only squeaks when you go over the harshest of bumps, not just small potholesin the road.
You can just hear it over the radio....
....Just to those with the interior squeaks, in my sold 3 door 59 plate flash red 6R, there was a really annoying rattle coming the back the drivers door (I think it was the door lock mechanism inside the door but was not sure)....

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Mine does seem to be when everything is cold. I.e it doesn't seem to happen at the end of journeys, not sure if this is the same with others
Sqeaky Suspension.....
Mine squeaks regardless of temperature or how long it has been driven. Whether its when I set off in the morning or when I'm driving home and have been driving for 40 minutes.

Re: Sqeaky Suspension.....
Actually, when first going to work in the morning (cold) it seems to be most noticable. After spraying WD40 around the suspension areas, it seems to quieten down the noise for a day or two until going back to normal. So if it really bugging you, spray WD40 around the top and bottom of the suspension as a temporary repair....
