Polo 6r GTI owner opinion??

Post by cooz93 »

So after recent troublle with me car, SECOND turbo in 6 months, i've decided to have a little look around, and the 6r gti caught my eye. I really like the look, and its a good engine. Just wondering what its like day to day? ive heard the DSG can be a bit dodgie? also it drinks oil?
But whats peoples opinions on here? people that have owned one?
any advice/opinions would be great!!

Thanks

Great little car!
IMO looks better than the golf gti
Its light and nimble
DSG box is superb, very few known problems with them
Oil issues seem to be getting fixed, only a select few with problems drinking oil (early 2010)

If you do go down the mod route too you can make it a beast to drive! :D

Thanks for that mate!!

Ye they are a really good looking car, something about them just looks really mean.
Ahwelll that's okay then!
I will defs be going down the mod route haha.
Stage 2 is like 240 Bhp or something!?
What can the DSG handle power wise?
Might have to have a look about for more info on that

Love it. Respectable looking, easy to drive day to day and can be a huge beast even if not modified when you want it to. Imho the golf has got a bit lardy, is similar 0-60 and that price!

Worth the extra for the nicer interior over the seat or skoda.

Had mine for just over a week so can't comment on long term but it looks fantastic comes with a great amount of tech as standard and dealers can do some good deals at the moment on the polo! Thought I'd miss the manual but its just so easy to use and if you want a bit of fun using the paddles is amazing! Personal opinion I would definitely get e xenon lights I think it finished the look of nicely. Let us know what you decide!

Agreed. Xenon lights and also the multi function steering wheel are the top options.

I didn't go for the wheel as I thought I'd miss out on the GTI trim  regretting it now. THe lights were expensive so also passed on that but they look so much better.

With the right mods you would be looking at about 240, these cars need alot of cooling though!!!
I went from stock to stage 2 with CAI and Turbo back milltek, next mod is an intercooler to aid cooling.
Only if you go with WMI and a Loba turbo will you need a dsg software as it limits the power if you go beyond stage 2!
(See a thread by Hurdy)
Performance wise when im done il have:
NGK BKR7EIX plugs
Audi R8 Red Top Coilpacks
VWR Intake
Milltek Turbo Back
Forge Intercooler
Ap Coilovers
H&R Rear Arb
312mm Brakes
VCDS Tweaks: XDS Set to 2 Brake Pressure Set to 2

Do this and you will not be dissapointed!!
its a completely different animal and it certainly suprises alot of business men in there mercs and audis 8)
Handles like its on rails and goes like a stabbed rat!!

Although as a standard car it brought a smile to my face but the mod bug started to bite :D
