Match 1.4 Ordered

Post by jezyg »

First post on here...

Just ordered a 1.4 Polo Match in flash red, standard spec for end oct/early Nov delivery. Dealer seemed much keener to sell a 1.4 than a 1.2 interestingly. Possibly the 1.2 is in greater demand and shorter supply? Got a 10% discount as well as the £1000 deposit allowance and free insurance. Polo is replacing the up! we have had for a year which is a cracking little motor, being three doors and four seats with three children though and a change in job we really needed five seats even though we have an F20 1 Series as the main car. Wife hated the brakes on the up! and thought the steering wheel was a too big

It will be better on the days I take it on my 20 mile commute I also get to use my beamer a bit more, even if the up!s 65mpg meant low fuel bills, the gearbox is a tad noisy and overall refinement on a long run is not great. Spot on for a city car but not quite so good for regular longer runs. Wish they would put the 1.2 85 TSi in the Polo as that would of been my choice, as 1.4 is ok though, economy seems on par with my 116i that returns 54 mpg on a decent longer run and around 37-40mpg in town?

I've had a 1.4 Match (12 Plate) since December and I was told by a mechanic that they've had a lot of issues with the 1.2s, quite ironic as my 1.4 was being looked at for a faulty driver airbag! I was picked up by someone from the dealer in an "Up!" and he hated the automatic as it kept dropping power. No complaints about the 1.4 though! Lovely to drive. Old job used to be town driving with a lot of waiting in traffic and got 35mpg. Moved jobs and travel down country lanes and get 50mpg.

Averaging 300-350 miles a tank (41 litres). Would of liked a hybrid car that could do double the miles but I don't like the idea of paying to replace batteries in 5 years!

Hi from SEATCupra.net! Think I replied to your thread when you were considering the Ibiza Toca. The Polo should be a nice step up from the up :p

Match is a decent spec (particularly the run out Edition version they are currently offering) and 1.4 a solid little engine. Should easily enough return 45mpg.

Well my 1.4 SEL returns 53mpg commuting to work (motorways) and I have teased it to 63mpg on a couple of occasions!

I would love to try the 90 TDI and see what fuel economy I could get from that-as the diesel was my 1st choice but every one I went to see was dog rough-mine was in crackin condition with low miles!
Can do wrong and I think disc all round (on my 59 plate at least!)

I remember, good old SEATCupra.net! Yep nearly brought an Ibiza Toca SC in July, but then went and took voluntary redundancy in July and quickly landed a job with the police with a 20 mile instead of five mile commute. Decided five door was more practical and got a better deal and overall package from a VW dealer than SEAT. Polo higher residuals really help on a PCP as well!

I know the Polo is not quite as sharp to drive as the featherweight up! but much more refined, up! is a tad loud and not the most refined car. I will be using my 1 Series as well to even out the millage. I reckon from what you are saying 50mpg should be about what to expect once the Polo has a few miles under its belt. My F20 116i turbo hits around 47mpg and up! 65. Match edition is an excellent spec especially now with rear PDC and cruise as standard. Can retrofit an RNS315 for around £250 if I want a cheaper sat nav, although doubt I will bother. Are the new DAB units any good, I have DAB in the BMW and it is good when I get a decent signal, but the signal seems a bit hit and miss at times.

Having to wait until mid December to take delivery now as the one that was at another dealers was sold before they got to it. Our up is being built this week and then have to wait as it is shipped from South Africa.

As for the TDi 90, the engines can be rather hit and miss, some achieve very poor mpg and some very good. My pick of the engines would be the 1.2Tsi followed by the 1.4 ACT for the Polo.

Eeeek yep now I am looking rather sad with all these forums I frequent

Yep Babybmw.net had an E87 118d a few years back now with in the much improved F20. The Polo R Line is the one I would of had if I had an extra 2K, lovely car and I bet the interior makes less noise than your old E87

Glad to hear it the up! has been rattle free so have high hopes for the polo. Is well screwed together and I think as good as the Audi A1 after having test driven both.

I must admit my SEAT Leon FR TSi 211 prior to our 1er was sqeak free. Although I reckon it was built after Pedro's siesta and all of his three hands and six eyes were in sync
