9N TDI 1.4 Brake sensor part number?
9N TDI 1.4 Brake sensor part number?
Hi guys,
my brake sensor light keeps coming on before and after having the discs and pads changed. This is because whoever had it before me decided to just cut the cable off and leave it being half-arsed! I want to replace the cable but not sure which it is on vagcat.com anyone know? Thanks

If you're handy with a soldering iron, it'd be easier and cheaper to solder some new lengths of wire to the cut loom, and add a replacement connector and heatshrink the loom to tidy it up.
The part number for the connector is 1J0 973 802. Will find out the part number for the contacts if required. Can't see it costing more than £5 all in. The same thing's happened to mine.

Cheers Ash, that would be good if you can, my friend can re-solder it back.

Re: 9N TDI 1.4 Brake sensor part number?
I may have misquoted the part number above (I think it may be the connector on the brake pad itself - not the loom). Is there any chance you could take a picture of the connector on the pad (don't worry if there are no part numbers on this) so I can cross reference in ETKA?
I suspect 1J0 973 702 is what was originally on the loom and the p/n I quoted earlier is the corresponding connector housing.

Yep, those connector housings complement each other. I still think 1J0 973 702 is the one on the original loom (pins: N 103 358 07). The pins for 1J0 973 802 are N 103 361 05.

No worries. 2 pins per connector. Try haggling btw, you can usually get 10% discount (These will cost pennies, but still). Even better, local TPS. Let me know how you get on.

Hi John, those should be the part numbers you need too. The plug used is consistent across many VAG group cars and definitely the same on a 9n and 9n3 (as is most of the wiring between the cars, bar some CAN stuff). So far, I know the same plug is used on the Polo / Fabia / Ibiza / A2 of the same era, Mk4 Golf / Bora, Mk5 Golf and B5 Audi A4 / Passat.

How much did it end up at out of interest? Let me know once you've done it and which plug turned out to be the right one.

It all came to around 8quid, with the 2 plugs, connectors and the wires
Will update once its all back together.
Re: 9N TDI 1.4 Brake sensor part number?
Well after replacing the plug back to normal the dash still has the light coming up now and again, so I think the issue is with the dash instrument panel.
Anyone know where to get the dash checked out/repaired?
Anyone tried clusterrepairsuk.co.uk
