mpg on the fsi

hey guys, was juss wondering what kinda mpg u guys are getting. mine appears to be 24 mpg and when i fill up a full tank on my 1.4 fsi, the petrol range appears to be 250 miles but i only end up doing 170 miles until the tank runs out

Whoa Jazzy!! thats a hell lot of petrol.

On my 100PS 16V Sport - should be even more petrol consuming than your FSi....

When I had my induction kit, i managed around 300miles on a full tank.

Now its summer and gonna get hot, i took off the induction kit and used the OEM filter, I got 350miles on a full tank. Most of my mileage is on 5th gear travelling to Uni and visiting friends and work.

I think maybe you rev ur engine too hard, if u wanna save petrol, you should change gears between 2-3k RPM.

i do rev it up a bit thats to get the best sound outta my powerflow back box

but ive tried to change gears between 2-3 and i only got 220 miles, although its hard to pick up speed when changing between 2-3

58mpg on a run and an average of 52mpg and 500 miles to a tank!

Well, I think you may have answered your own question in your second post. But I've found that if you want the mpg to increase on a petrol it has to be done over a period of time.

E.G. If I thrash my FSi and get average 35mpg for a tank, it takes at least 1/4 tank before i'm back at 50mpg+ again. You can't expect mpg to rocket because you drive it gently for a couple of miles.

Also, what is your general daily drive? If its only short journeys (0-10 miles) your mpg will be much lower than of you were traveling 26 miles to work (as I do).

And the most blatantly obvious question...

...I assume your using 98 ron fuel?

(aka Optimax, Ultimate etc??)

(For the record, my mpg currently sits between 44-52mpg)

i only use it to drive about 3 - 4 miles to college. and same bak. what fuel would u recomend to use for the fsi

Any Sulphur free Unleaded really, though I find get about 2-3mpg more out of Shell Optimax.

I use Shell Optimax too, but recently i found out that Sainsbury Petrol stations do Super which is also Hi-Octane fuel (79.9). Its cheap compared to normal Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate! (85.9) 6 pence every litre, thats Â£2.40 you are saving everytime you refill.

Powerflow exhaust = Petrol Go exhaust

My Average MPG is about 40 - 45 MPG.... not bad for a 16V sport.

Jazzy, if you want loud noise, consider my PiperX induction kit. I'll sort you a good deal mate!

think il giv Sainsbury's Petrol a go, cheers wai. ye i think u summed up powerflow quiet well there

i'm not to sure with the induction kit, didnt find it to be that loud when we were testing it, maybe u can fit it to my car when we have a lil mini meet and test it, if u dont mind.
