help needed 9n power steering pump problem?

hi everyone,help needed please.my 9n 52plate pd100 tdi sport is driving me mad ! first battery went so fitted new one then problems with lights going dim them bright and engine holding back/surging and lose of power steering so changed the alternator for new one still no good,glow plug relay clicking when I get the faults so changed that for new one,still no good so took car to auto electrician who code read it/ vag com and said its 99% the power steering pump ( error codes power steering and voltage drop etc) and checked all my earths which are ok.took it to garage tues and had new steering pump fitted etc,fault free for 1 day wed then this morning with car warming up for work the relay(glow plug I think ) started clicking and power steering light come on again and lost power steering again !! some days its ok and other days it happens at least 7 times in 2 miles to work etc.turn engine on/off and its ok for 5mins then goes again.heater dial lights go on/off and electric windows also play up when problems happen.its driving me mad!! any ideas before I take it to garage again? its already cost me approx. £600 so far. I need advice and help asap please.thanks.anyone know a good vag/vw garage that's in Birmingham that are good and wont rip me off? ive got to sell my motorbike to find the money now

Just a thought,the problems started when you changed the battery...is it a duffer?...are all/both the connections clean tight?...any of the battery mounted fuses suspect?

problem was battery at first because car was slow to start until it went flat,since new battery the car starts first time and fast.auto electrian checked the fuses above batt and all earth leads etc.one 40amp fuse had a hairline crack which they replaced. cant understand it.the glow plug relay clicks on/off when problem happens and clicks faster if I build the revs up.im running out of ideas and money fast !! im sure someone on here must have had this problem or know how to fix it?

Were the main battery to chassis/chassis to engine earths checked?

I remember reading a post about a 9n with multiple problems such as yours, the problem turned out to be water had got into a control unit behind the dash, the water was entering via one of the front wing retaining bolts missing from a point near the bulkhead. (a new wing had previously been fitted and a bolt left out)

problem sorted,was the new rtx allternater that I had fitted was faulty !! only six weeks old and was kicking out 17v swapped it for a new bosch one and its cured the problem,well since Monday anyway.car drives as it should now though with no problems at all.
