Brake Sensitivity

Did anyone find the brake of the Polo (mine is 1.4) extremely sensitive? I find mine having a near to 'non-linear' feel, ie for the first few degree, the brake is very light, but once a go just a little bit further, the brake comes on heavily. Given the low power of this car, I think this is way to sensitive and I need to be extremely careful when putting on the brakes or else the car will stop abruptly.

Over the number of cars that I've owned, both large (MB E320, Evo iV, Subaru WRX) and small power ones (Mazda 323, MX-5), I find the Polo to be the most extreme. Does anyone knows if I can have the dealer to adjust it?

I doubt the dealer can adjust the brake sensitivity, since it's still hydraulics. The latest Mercs get brake-by-wire, so perhaps they can adjust the sensitivity somewhat...

I think it's down to it being a 'new' car, I've driven one a weekend or so and found it to be very sensitive, as you said.

My mk4 and the GF's Mk3 Golf are way less sensitive - so much so it scared me! I'd driven the Mum's 2003 Toyota Corolla for a week and those brakes were on-or-off too, so getting back into a car with brakes that actually have some feel took some adjusting.

Oh well.

Yeah they are meant to be like that, most new cars are nowadays.

Give it a few thousand miles and they'll be ok, or you get used to it!

I find the brakes of the Polo very weak. The first few inches the brakes don't react and when kicking harder on the pedal the car never really bites.

Also the brakes start fading very quickly when braking at high speeds.

I d'love to upgrade my brakes. First change my brake-pads for Ferodo DS2500.

My Polo is actually a 2nd hand, which has logged 9000 miles on it, so I guess the brake has already break-in. It seems from your feedbacks, I'll have to get use to it with a light feet

mine is soft when pushed lightly and then it brakes heavily once i panic!
