Hi everyone,

Hope you can help me here as I'm completely stumped by this problem.

My Polo 9n 1.2 E has developed a starting problem which only happens after it has been sat overnight. When i first start it up it will struggle to start and sometimes completely stall. If i put my foot on the accelerator it wont stall if i give it sufficient revs but I've never used to have to do this.

Once i start the engine again it will run fine and throughout the day. I can stop and start it fine after this but the problem comes back again once the car has been sat for a good few hours.

I've plugged in a cheap OBD2 scanner and it shows no codes or problems.

My car has done over 130k miles and its petrol.
Had new starter motor and battery 6 months ago (this was before the problem occurred)
Just had an oil & filter change. (This was after the problem occurred)

Would appreciate any help and if you need any more info let me know!

As it is a cold start problem, maybe replace the engine coolant temperature sensor, cheap and easy.

Fixed it !

Decided to change the spark plugs, whilst doing this i noticed this small hose had a crack in. Started the engine and without the polo cover on the engine stalled straight away which i thought was the plugs at first.

Turned out everytime you moved the hose with the crack the engine would struggle then eventually stall. Replaced and its running fine.
