door window seal popped off!

hi, this popped off earlier when re-raising the drivers window. i clipped it back in as best as i could roadside, but it doesnt seem to sit right and looks like it would foul the window again.
is this a common thing?
does the doorcard need to come off to do this properly?
any hints / tips?
