Polo GTI w/CarPlay Support? (or Anyone with MIB II?)

Hi All,

I have an iPhone and i'm looking for my next car to support CarPlay.

According to what I heard and the following link:

It seems like only MIB II (“modular infotainment, second generation”) has support for Car Play. (together with other new improvements f.e. resolution)


Did anyone with a new 2015 Polo GTI 6C has the new MIB II system installed and can run CarPlay ? (You have to connect your device to the USB Socket in order to be able to run it, if you do)

According to internet forums cars that were manufactured after Week 22 (2015) should have it, although I am not sure if Polo is included in the models that will, or not.

I believe if you have a look in the 80+ page "new gti" thread there are some people who have the car play functionality working.

The Polo GTI is included in what you said, I have ordered a new GTI with the "App Connect" option which supports both Apples Car Play and Android Auto

Hi there.

Trading the Mrs. TSI in for her new BlueGT hopefully next couple of weeks when it's ready.
We knew about the android system from ordering the current car last year but wasn't aware of the new CarPlay system when ordering the new one.

Do you know whether you have to order it from the get go or whether you can add it at a later date (after delivery, the cars built and in the UK now, apparently)?

My GTI has CarPlay installed. I was originally a little miffed because I was led to believe that it would work wirelessly (as the latest iOS brought the wireless capability) but it only works while plugged in, that said; I have never had any issues with it and it works very well.

So I'm picking up my pre owned Polo tomorrow and know that it doesn't have car play installed but is there a way that I can get it installed as the dealership can't do it. They said all it is a code but vw can't help. Wondering if anyone has had the stereo modified to get car play for the IPhone

Any help will be amazing.
