Fuel filter

Hi
I have a 2005 1.2 Polo engine code BMD .
Can anyone tell me the correct fuel filter that i need as i believe it should be a fuel filter with a built in 3bar regulator.
It has a fuel filter fitted that has 4bar stamped on it.
Some confirmation of the correct one would be great.

I think it'll be the 3bar one. It's a bit of a tricky one as there's three different types for the petrol 9n

The reg is AO55YBV.

From everything i can find online i believe it should be a 3bar filter/regulator but it would be great to have confirmation.

First thing that I'll say about the petrol fuel filter, VAG do not place a "change" period on them, in fact, in my limited experience, of you walk into your local VW dealer's parts department and ask for one, they will probably need to order it in for you.
Next, do you have a real issue with that car that leads you to believe that the filter is getting clogged up? If not, maybe give changing it a miss, I fretted for a while about exactly which filter was fitted to my wife's late 2002 Polo with the 1.4 BBY engine in it, eventually working out what I needed and went to get one, it needed to get ordered in by VW. Next after having a look at the assembly on the car from new, I worked out that I should probably buy a regulator as well as its body is steel and it looked a bit nasty, so good old ebay provided that, then to make life even simpler, I ordered in the retainer that holds the regulator to the filter - and just to save any other issues, I ordered in a fuel line repair kit from VW just in case one of the push-on connectors failed during filter change. So I assembled the filter+regulator, put it in a safe place, then a year or so later sold that car at 13 years old and 106+K miles. I see that VAG may have simplified things and now only fit a filter with internal regulator to new cars, BTW, the filter part suited fitting to either of the option of pressure regulators.

Quite a few owners have fretted about this on VAG Fabia/Polo/Ibiza forums!

I have a rich mixture fault at times although the car runs fine and emissions are spot on.
The fuel filter is not original and it says 4bar on it.
Thats the reason for my question because i am thinking that the higher fuel pressure may be causing my issues.

Ah, I see, maybe previous owner thought that increasing the fuel line pressure would be a smart move?

I'm pretty sure i should have a 3bar filter/regulator on my car.

I'm thinking that the latest offerings should be a regulator/filter combo seeing as the original set up as individual parts would cost more in total and maybe VAG have thought that in reflection it should have been a combo in the first place.

I have fitted a new VW fuel filter assembly that is rated at 3bar and it has made a big improvement on my LTFT figures so i may of finally fixed it.......
