Second USB socket?

Post by CNK »

How can I connect second USB socket (part number 6C0035726) to it works as phone charger?

I think, that I can't connect this socket to my radio, because it is possible only in rcd 315/510 :?:
I have rns510 with Media-In (USB in glovebox).

I used this in my Polo 6R:

But looking at your pictures tells me that you need to buy another USB port with a green connector.
I think it is this one: 6C0035726B - but check with your local dealer...

Can I connect this directly into the 12V cigarette lighter?
USB runs at 5V.

Read the link carefully - the USB charger kit tranforms 12V into 5V.......

So there is no cheaper way to do it?

$69 / $99 + additional USB socket from Polo 6C is a bit expensive

Pulling apart a USB adaptor is probably a reasonable way of doing this. It will contain a 12v-5v inverter, and they're quite small and cheap I'm sure it could be stashed away under the centre console somewhere. Wire it in to the 12v socket next to it, and connect it to the OEM plug! More involved perhaps, but a USB charger off Amazon is a few quid!

Yeah but a cheap cigarette lighter charger

Then rip the converter out of it solder on some wires for input and output (don't forget to fuse the input) then rap in heat shrink.

Then wire that into somewhere suitable then attach output to correct pins on plug thing then away you go.
