Drivers Central locking

Hi, I am new to Polo ownership.

About 3 months ago I bought my daughter a 2004 Polo 1.2 4 door and all's well except recently, the drivers door when locking doors not lock or unlock the other 3 doors. It is intermittent. I have tried squirting WD40 into the lock just in case something is dry and stopping full movement and turning of the lock. if i go round to the passenger side, when locking and unlocking, it is very positive and works every time. The central locking works wit the key not a remote.

Its likely one of the microswitches in the lock has failed - its quite common

I had this on mine and had to replace it - best to get a genuine one from the dealer too.

Hi Alex

I take it there are more than one micro switches on the lock?
Is it one of these non accessible jobs to do and if the problem is intermittent, is it possible to get to the switches and use electrical cleaner or is it a case that everything is a sealed unit?

Hi Andrew

The microswitches are buried inside the lock, and are themselves sealed units so they cant be sprayed. I tried a variety of things when my one failed - it improved it for a short period, then it just went back to as it was before so I replaced it and its been solid since.

Any ideas on cost of units? Cant see them on GSF or Eurocarparts and being that you have suggested from main dealer, it would be good to know

It was around the £90 mark - sadly not cheap, but two year warranty on a new genuine one
