Around a 1,000 miles in - my 64 plate Polo TSI's clutch started squeaking. I put some white grease on the spring under the pedal thinking that would fix it but gradually the squeak has turned more into a creak.
I now have 5,000 miles on the car and the creak only appears after a lot of stop starting in traffic or if the weather is dry and hot. I've got it booked in with VW for a warantee check next week, but when I take the car to them it will be early and cold and it will not make the noise on a test drive.
Just wondered if anyone knows what this may be before I get told they can't replicate the noise therefore there is nothing wrong!

Re: Creaking clutch
I've got something similar on my Honda and was told it is either air in the clutch fluid or the slave cylinder failing. Unlikely to be the latter with you so the easy fix is to replace the clutch fluid and see if that resolves it, though if you have a leak then it will recur.MattR wrote:Around a 1,000 miles in - my 64 plate Polo TSI's clutch started squeaking. Re: Creaking clutch
I'd still say that that creaking is down to the lack of lubrication on either the pedal pivots or the pushrod that acts on the master cylinder, the ends of the pushrod will probably have mushroom ends operating against nylon cups. If there has been a lot of wear on any faces/contact points, lubricating would help but maybe worn parts need replaced.
Edit:- any suggestion of replacing fluid will probably only be a time wasting exercise!

Re: Creaking clutch
VW diagnosed the issue as a faulty clutch pedal box. They didn't have all the parts when I first took it in, but I'm taking it back next week to have a new clutch pedal box fitted - possibly the same with the accelerator pedal as that squeaks too. Madness to have this issue in such a new car.
