Polo 6R 1.6 TDI with Amarok cluster

Post by Meotje »

Hello everybody

I own a 2011 polo 6R 1.6 TDI
Last week Volkswagen installed a amarok cluster and it is working.
But now I'm searching for someone who can modify the eprom to have wheel circumference, braking fluid floater, fuel gauge and pictogram fit the Polo.

Can someone please help me

Oh by the way, I'm from Holland

The worst is getting to eeprom because the changes are very easy. I can help too. Did you buy the cluster in VW or were you only there to install? I have mine to install but I'm stopped because I can not install the immobilizer and in VW they do not do this to me.

I already went to VW and they do not do the service because the cluster was already from another car.
How can you help me?

Eeprom is a component where all the definitions of the cluster are.
To access it is necessary to disassemble the entire cluster because it is located below the central display.

We need to change that component?

No the EEPROM is a piece of software.

EEPROM is actually a piece of hardware, ie a chip or IC, EEPROM = a read-only memory whose contents can be erased and reprogrammed using a pulsed voltage, in other words I'd expect to be able to alter/change its contents without removing it - if VW has allowed for that to happen. If not it would need to get removed and fitted to a jig to get reprogrammed. (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory)

You are right. The software is the EEPROM dump. But the chip is actually very writeable, for example all the adaptation channels are saved there (the same ones you adapt per vcds).

It also contains non-modifiable parameters, in this case the module identification, immobiliser keys etc.

In this context, calling the software the eeprom made sense but you're completely right. It's the chip. We change the chips' software.
