front lamba sensor

Post by austin.perkins »

Would anybody be able to tell me which front lamba sensors will work on my 1.2 3cylinder polo 2002 ?
i get p0132 code
there seems to be a large variety on ebay and im wondering if the difference is cosmetic (i.e. the length of the wire )
mine has four wires so would any four wire one work if i cut and spliced the wires?

If I was you, I'd forget these generic ebay ones and buy a genuine NTK (an NGK brand) sensors, either online if that is cheapest to get to you, or check the price that VW are charging for that same item. VAG seem to use only NTK Lambda Probes.

If you save lots of money buying a generic one and maybe even splice the wires to the original cable, a short time down the line the cable will corrode - or maybe the sensor will fail as the ECUs in these cars seem to be fussy about which sensors are used.

Edit:- just to add, yes some differences will be due to cable length and where the cable gets supported and where it passes extremely high temperature areas in the engine compartment.
