My fog lights shouldn't be coming on when I indicate right?

Driving behind a friend in my GTI and he noticed every time I indicated it happened.

If you were turning right at the same time then the fog lights come on for cornering. I don't think they come on with the indicators, just when you are turning a corner

They're the static cornering lights; page 96 in the manual explains the conditions under which they illuminate.
