Clutch clunk

Post by Bubs »

I have a 2018 polo beats, 2 months old with a very loud clutch clunk noise when changing 1-2 or 2-3. Also hear a clunk when changing from reverse to first. It’s loud. I can hear it / feel it with stereo on and it’s really annoying. The car has been back to the dealer and apparently it’s a normal transition noise. The loan Polo seems (same engine) didn’t do it and drove like a completely different car. It felt more solid. Any ideas? It’s making me wish I’d never bought it. So disappointing.

Mine doesn’t do that. Nor did the loaner I had while mine was being repaired. Either sound proofing is missing, or it has a gearbox fault, presumably the latter.

Which VW place was that Kinaird Park or Newbridge?

I have my wife's 2015 Polo booked in to Kinaird Park on Monday for noises, but not these noises and I'm hoping that I don't get that blanket "reply" which infers that "they all do that sir" - I hope that I'm wrong there.

It was Newbridge. The report actually says my car is “perfect”. I’m not convinced they even did a visual inspection. Just drive it and said it was normal transmission noise. Not happy. I’ve owned loads of VWs and never had anything like this before.

What year/model do you have? Thanks. The loaner we had didn’t do it either and that was same age and engine as ours, just a different model.
