FITTING FOG LIGHTS TO MY 6R 2010??

Hey so I have purchased the fog lights and surrounds to install fog lights on my 6r but of course I have no experience in wiring so do I need to buy a separate switch to control them or just get them hooked up to the battery so they are independent and buy a cheap control so they work even when the car is off for meets? Any help would be appreciated.

Why not by a genuine VW light switch and do the wiring as it were from factory. I think that's the nicest option and arguably both the safest and cheapest way to do it.

I would love to do this.. is there a detailed descriptive way of doing this? My switch is the standard one with only one fog light option, but I want the ones I install to be separate if you know what I mean, I'm not sure how to attach photos on here but I have seen on eBay a switch with 2 fog light options is that right?

Probably yes, but I don't know where.
Basically, fit a wire from the light switch to the fuse box, from the fuse box to both fog lights and make a ground connection for both lights.
If your BCM supports it, you could even fit static cornering lights if you'd like.
There are people here (myself, ciclo) that could provide you with the appropriate wiring harnesses and maybe even a light switch to make a factory-like installation.

I can only provide the wiring diagrams.

Sorry I'm such a noob, so this is from the original switch to fog lamps? And when would they be on when fog lights are turned on in the normal way?

Yes, for fog lights without BCM control (no cornering lights) you'll do the following:
- Remove old light switch, throw it away
- Insert one wire on the black connector for the light switch on position 8
- Run the wire to the fuse box on location 54 (fuse 54)
- Run a wire from the other side of the fuse to the two fog lights
These are all the positive wires, plus.
- Connect grounds (minus) to the chassis
Depending on what you want for a light switch (chrome, not chrome) I can have a look at what I can make for you.
As soon as you reach 10 posts, you can send private messages.
Maybe it would be an idea to make a topic to introduce your Polo 6R 2010 RHD and inform us about the progress you're making.
This way you'll reach 10 posts very quickly and we can inspire one another.
If I may make one suggestion... Pictures, pictures, pictures
I'm afraid that fog lights with BCM control might be a bit too far reached for now.
This way, it will all work like the factory way.
Your fog lights will be on when the light switch is pulled out, with ignition on and light switch in the dipped beam position or the parking lights position.

Hi iichel, i have worked on so many polos without foglamps in india. In all cars i have found that foglamp wiring is already there till below the headlight. From there onwords we can get 2 pin female socket and h8 male extender from vw. Vw sell that wiring as incase of accident if fog lamp connctoer is broken then change that wiring. Best way to check is remove headlight switch connector and see if there is wire in pin number 8 or not. If wire is there means fog lamp wiring is also present.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I'm aware that these wirings are often present in the Indian VW Polos. However, in the EU spec, VW is known for nut putting a mm too much of wiring into the car and I don't expect the wires to be present in this English VW Polo RHD.

No that seems to be the right one. Make sure you find one with the 17-pin connector and it will also depend on how your DRL's are controlled.
Therefore I suggested to introduce your Polo, so we can see the correct equipment that's needed for the right light switch.
