New car does you car do this

I took delivery last week of my R line
Beautiful car 😍
I noticed this on the loan car I had and just hoped it was that one but mine also does this and wonder if some polos are doing this or I am just twice unlucky
Sticking it in to reverse and it clunks
When Apple play is on for no reason the car decides it no longer wants to play that song and just goes silent😳
As I say love the car haven’t go very far in it due to fear someone hits me😂
My nearest VW dealer is 16 miles away so I can book it in but I don’t want to have to take it to the dealer I bought the car from 200 mile round trip

There seem to be a few reports of the new polo making a clunking noise when going into reverse see: search.php?keywords=clunk

From what I've read it could be to do with the rear drum breaks sticking when changing direction.

Make sure you have a good quality FireWire cable, I only use Apple, others don’t work. Also try swapping the USB socket. Mine works on the left one, less so in the right.

Mine used to make this horrendous clunk noise when I was reversing onto my drive and I would break, sounded like something was about to fall off.

The OH has ongoing problems with her USB ports, either it wont recognise the device or will cut out when being used (disconnect). Took it to dealership who couldn't replicate  (it happened to her iPhone and mine). Anyway you could literally swing off the movement in the USB cable there is that much movement when its plugged in.

I also read that the left hand side USB was the one you should use for CarPlay, but again not sure how accurate this is as both seem to work (when it wants to).

I was also given a short USB cable from VW - its actually quite smart looking, silver connectors with black cable. I didn't hand this back when I rejected my car

What did you do to get a loan car?

I ordered my R-Line in April and I'm yet to get a build date. I've been told 'unofficially' it'll be Nov so I'm looking at a delivery date of Feb (late Jan if I'm lucky). I would add, I've gone for a few options to future-proof the car.

The problem I have is this is my first car, which doesn't give me leverage of their delays leaving me without a car. My dealer has been apologetic, told me I can cancel at any point and get the £500 I've put down so far but will not apply any more discount as I've already got a Carwow discount. Quite frankly it's put a massive dampener on the 'my first car' experience.

How many of you have had loaner cars for periods caused by VW delays and anyone have any ideas on how i may go about getting my own... I could just set my partner on them to be fair.

I have the 115 DSG and it has no issues when I put it in reverse. The 115 has 4 disk breaks not rear drums, which is one reason why I went for it.

Genuinely, no issues with mine to the 5600 mile mark. see how I get on for the next 5k.

Like you I ordered my R line in April
I was given round about a September delivery
It was once the factory closed I realised I might not get my car in time for October.
I made it clear at that point to Volkswagen & also escalated it to a case manager and my dealer that my current car was a leased vehicle and it had to go back for this date to the leased company (although if push came I was told by my lease company I could extend my lease for a further 90 days if needed.
I simply asked the question if my car is not here by the time my leased car goes away can you provide me with something until such time, give them there due my dealer bent over to help and I did have a loan car for three weeks before my car came.
I even got a free set of rubber mats and a few freebies from my dealer for the inconvenience caused.
Don’t know if you have tracked your order via the VW app.
Keith at VW customer service is also very good to help.
I would call them and just ask for a update.

Yeah the loan car did the brake clunk too.
Mine made a horrendous sound while I was reversing today
Actually sounded like half that car fell out 😳😳
I could hear it in the car and a lady in the street also heats it and gave me a look.
You rejected your car Can I ask why

The clinking noise is likely to be slight movement / free play of the front brake pads in the callipers and has been discussed before on the forum.

My 2016 Polo GTI initially made a similar clunking noise when braking to a halt from reversing. It doesn’t do it now.

The VW app is rubbish, its sent me 4 separate updates/notifications to tell me my order is with the factory.

My dealer gave me the unofficial build date, it was a screenshot of a system and it showed my build week come down a couple of weeks. When trying to confirm this with customer service they weren't willing to admit the system even existed until they realised I wasn't going to let it drop, all i was looking for was confirmation to what my dealer had said so it's been appalling service all round really.

Anyway, going to fire another email to my dealer then maybe escalate it as a complaint. I'm tired of not having any wheels.

Update, the system now registers my potential build week as week 2 2019, fuming!

I in reality wish my car had now been delayed
I find myself not gelling with the car as it’s not diesel
And now having lost a substantial deposit 😂

Have mine 😂
