Alloy wheel centre caps

Hi everyone.

I am a new member to the forum, which I have been surfing for quite a while now, but am hoping with fingers crossed, that there may be a knowledgeable member here who might be able to help.

I have recently purchased my second Polo 9n, this time a 1.4tdi Twist. My first being a 1.2 Twist.

I have purchased a set of alloy wheels, which I think are off a Polo Sport model 9n3 originally and I think are called "Melbourne"?. I need to get them refurbed, but I love the look of them.

Only problem is they don't have the centre caps, which is where my problem lies.
I know they will probably be hard to get and expensive too. However, I don't know the part number of the ones I would need. I don't mind searching endlessly or paying the price, as long as I am looking for the correct ones.
I have attached pictures of the wheel without the cap and a picture I found with the centre cap, the VW emblem is blue and white on this one, but I think the ones I want, are a Black and silver VW emblem. Hopefully this will help.

Actually I seem to have 5 brand new ones and a used 1!

I must have bought a couple then spotted a set of 4 at a good, at the time, price, all genuine VW made in Italy as were these Melbourne wheels!

Do you want to start making some more postings as I don't think that we can PM each other until your posting count gets to 5 or 10, then we can pass over relevant information to each other.

I'll take £30 including postage but maybe wait to post them if that price is okay until after the turn of the year as too many items go missing at this time of year.

That is amazing!.

I actually managed to buy 4 shabby looking second hand ones, with the intention of replacing the centre VW logo, which, in theory sounds great until getting hold of the correct badge is not so easy!

I have been searching and searching and searching for a set in any condition and managed to get 3 in poor shape and 1 half decent one, which I was going to tidy up.

I think the price you are asking is fantastic too and I would be very grateful to you for coming to my rescue and selling them to me.

The wheels I bought aren't in too bad a shape for the year I suppose.

I did do a refurb myself on a set of Corrado VR6 Speedline alloys a few years ago, but the prep work was crazy, a huge job for an amateur. By the time you sort all the dings and scratches out and get them mirror smooth, layer upon layer of high build primer, paint coats and lacquer, it's a lengthy job.

I guess you have to be really lucky to pick up an older set of alloys that wouldn't need to be refurbished.

My wife's 2002 Polo 1.4 16V SE had only one wheel spoke badly marked, and it was me that did it!! An extremely high kerb near Edinburgh railway station, I was more than gutted, but, about 2 years later found someone selling what had been a spare wheel that was as good as new, so wife's Polo ended up with a full set of 5 Melbourne alloys, as luck would have it the badly marked one did seem to end up on the car a few times due to punctures and tyre replacing.

I was looking on ebay using the part number for these wheel centres and some people are chancing their hands, selling wheel centres with no VW emblem on them etc, still better than not being able to find any I suppose. I've also got a full set more Melbourne 2 which were fitted as standard to the lower powered 2.0 litre Golf GTI I think, they are also new and were meant to get used as backup for Audi wheels I fitted to my Passat 4Motion.

Sounds like you hit the jackpot with that spare wheel then.

I think the Melbourne wheels are hard to get your hands on unless extremely lucky. Same as everything once they stop making them I suppose.

I know those alloys are not everybodies cup o' tea, but I really like them and think they suit the styling of the 9n polo.

Altogether I have owned a 9n 1.2 Twist, mk5 golf GT tdi 4motion, 2 Golf mk7 estates, Corrado VR6, which I still got and the current 9n I got as a little car for back and for to work

Oh and I forgot the wife's Tiguan aswell!

I think it's safe to say I am a VW man.
