Last year they sold half as many as Ford Festers, which is not bad. The Polo was in the top ten, behind the Golf.

It does not offer the best value according to reviews but not sure I agree. More interior and boot space than the Fester, or any other non VAG car in its class. I think reviewers prefer the Fester as it is more fun to drive, apparently. I’ve not driven the latest one.

If it's won "Whatcar" small car of the year, you can bet it's going to prolong the wait for future orders and those already ordered and waiting up a month or two longer.
Place an order today and get a "20" plate motor, forget a "69" plate :(

Autocar state that all UK market Polos are built in Spain, that might have been mainly correct 10 years ago - they do they not check their facts before publishing?

TBH, I think you're overestimating the power of the award.
Only a very few people actually take notice of this and/or care.
Other criteria matters more, especially in small cars where people are often just looking for cheap transport.

Nope. Their "exclusive spy shots" of the next car out it a series are usually photoshopped too e.g. new A3 looking like a MK7 Golf front end with a big Audi grille slapped on , the side profile of an A-class Mercedes, the rear light clusters of the new A1 slapped onto the existing A3 boot.

As with any printed matter, they're in their death throes.
Gasping for air, treading water, only a matter of time until they don't exist at all.
Can't even remember the last time I bought a car or bike magazine, and I used to eagerly await some of them every month.
