Can anyone give me anymore info to what maybe the issue here and does it need to go to the dealer or is it a case of topping up fluids or something?

Re: Yellow warning triangle light
Have a look in your owners manual under ‘Driver Information - symbols in the instrument cluster’; always a good place to start if you see an unfamiliar warning symbol displayed.
A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside is a general warning. When this is displayed, there should be additional information displayed in the instrument cluster to indicate what the issue is. If no other information is (or has been) displayed in the instrument cluster, suggest you check the car settings menu(s) accessible via the infotainment screen.

Re: Yellow warning triangle light
The yellow symbols don't herald imminent failure - they're usually indicative of oil , coolant or washer fluid top ups, or letting you know something needs to be replaced, like a blown bulb, or your brake pads are closed to the limit.
You should have an accompanying message to tell you what's wrong.. A red warning is a different matter- pull over immediately if you get one of those.

It's a female friends car so i cant check atm, hopefully it's only a low fluid of something as the car is only 6 weeks old.

Unless there's an oil leak or oil consumption has been very high during run in (unlikely), it's more likely to be low washer fluid or maybe low coolant level because of an airlock in the system when it was filled at the factory.Athlonman wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 8:44 pm It's a female friends car so i cant check atm, hopefully it's only a low fluid of something as the car is only 6 weeks old.
For anything other than washer fluid, I'd get it back to the dealership, they should top up the oil or coolant for free if it's those, and check for leaks or dodgy sensors, given that the car is only 6 weeks old.
It could also be the GPF is filling up and needs a longer run to clear it, but I've not heard of that happening to anyone yet.
There is one other situation that would leave the yellow warning on, with nothing actually wrong with the car - if your friend has turned the front assist off, the car leaves you with an annoying warning if you turn it off.
There will be accompanying text with any of the warnings if the car is running, to explain what is wrong.

Re: Yellow warning triangle light
Everytime she starts the car it will tell her what the issue is on the MFD between the dials, also scrolling through the options on the MFD to "Vehicle Status" will show here the problem, as well as on the ICE\touchscreen\stereo (whatever you want to call it). It could be anything from low washer fluid (if winter pack fitted) to low oil or a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring) warning. Advise her to read her cars manual and familiarise herself with her cars (many) safety functions, warnings and convenience features.Athlonman wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 7:10 pm Can anyone give me anymore info to what maybe the issue here and does it need to go to the dealer or is it a case of topping up fluids or something?

^ beyond advising to read the message that accompanies the warning when it first flashes up. I don't think we can help any more than that.

Easy, press “car” on the entertainment screen, and cycle through them until you reach “Vehicle status”. There you’ll see all faults and warning messages.Athlonman wrote:Can anyone give me anymore info to what maybe the issue here and does it need to go to the dealer or is it a case of topping up fluids or something?

Is this your first car by any chance? If a WARNING triangle lights up, your first step is the dealers, you could even before you do any more miles, phone the dealers up. Not start asking a forum if they know what it means

Or in the first instance, have a look in the owner’s manual to see what the warning light relates to.silverhairs wrote: Wed Jul 10, 2019 4:28 pmIs this your first car by any chance? As others have said, the illuminated warning triangle symbol is probably alerting the owner to one of the fluid levels being low - ‘vehicle status’ information should verify whether or not this is the reason it’s illuminated. If so, it’s easily remedied by the owner, in which case a visit to the dealer’s wouldn’t be necessary when you might be waiting 2 or more weeks for an appointment.

Press 'Car' on the central media screen and scroll to the 'Vehicle status' page.

Re: Yellow warning triangle light
Hi, sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I’m having this same problem.
Same light and my vehicle status says ‘check left main headlight beam’. All lights are working so I’m guessing it’s a sensor but is there any known way to reset this light?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Yellow warning triangle light
Over the years, some mk7 Golf owners on forums have reported getting a ‘bulb out’ warning when all bulbs are OK, only to find a bulb fails a short time later.sg1985bwfc wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 6:11 pm Hi, sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I’m having this same problem.

So maybe the status message could be an indication your left headlamp bulb is about to fail? If you swap your headlamp bulbs over, does the status message change to ‘check right main headlamp beam’? If so, then you’ll know the fault is with the bulb.
