Installing 6C full LED oem headlights in a 6R.

Post by Ozzy »

Hi there guys,

I have a 6R 2010 1.6 blue 145hp with oem drl in the lower bumper H7 headlights, I just bought and installed the full LED headlights of a 6C. I looks great !!!
I installed the headlights with adapter from 10 to 14 pin, without any additional cables to the BCM (don’t ask me why).
The seller made sure that everything is going to work perfect with out malfunctions or error.

And it those.

Butt he was wrong;

High beam = works, even without contact or ignition
Low beam = works
Parking lights = nope
DRL = always on 100% with contact and/or ignition
Small lights = same as DRL

I know that with de bi-xenon the drl does dim when de low beam is on, butt even then it’s on 100%.

Guys (iichel or firegrafik or CNK or Vicki) can you help me with this.

Here some pictures of the BCM, headlights and adapters.

You have to install the 4 missing wires from the BCM to the T14 headlight connectors, two for each headlight.

New wires:
- DRLs x2
- Parking lights x2

In the following diagram/link you can see the correspondence for DRLs and Parking lights.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nv91 ... sp=sharing

It is necessary to code the BCM, post a full Autoescan.

I suppose the nicest way would be to upgrade your bcm to a type that supports LED headlights. This would be a 7E0 bcm that will require some additional wiring to make that work.

There is some work involved in this. Installing the wiring, purchasing a bcm, coding it all with vcds etc.

There are some easier ways of doing it but not as nice or as functional as the OEM way of replacing your current BCM with a fully compatible one.

I think LED drl need newer BCM to work like from factory.
And it seems to me, the guy writing above is the master in making wiring looms for BCM Max

When you put wires to BCM then you will be able to code them correctly and (after install sensor) turn on Coming Home/Leaving Home:

There is no need for a bcm max wiring (088b is already bcm max for pr 7L6 with start/stop). There is however a need for can gateway replacement (removal)

Hi there guys,

Thanks for your reply I really appreciated it.

@ciclo; the previous drl where in the lower bumper oem, so I can just take both wires from the lower bumper to the 14 pins connector.
About the parking lights; can’t I take these from the 10 pin connector to the 14 pin connector ?

@iichel; what do you mean with there is no reason for bcm max swap, pr 7L6with start/stop ? Removal of can gateway ?

@CNK; I have the rls and dimming mirror installed works perfectly, what do you mean with working like from factory.

Guys I really appreciated it, thanks for the effort.

I just want it to work properly
Parking lights
Dimming of the drl by low beam

Do you what a better picture of adapters.

You'll have to install a 7e0 937 090 /a/b/c etc bcm and adapt your wiring in such a way that the external gateway can be removed and you'll use the internal gateway of the bcm.

No, in 6R the parking/side lights on each side are joined by the same wire. In other words, a wire for front and rear parking lights of the right side (T73a/40) and another for front and rear of the left side (T73a/41). Your current installation.

When installing LED/bixenon headlights, a wire is necessary for each parking light.
Easy, ... remove/isolate the original wires in the T10 connectors or in new T14 connectors of new adapters for front parking lights, and install NEW 0.5mm2 wires for the front parking lights on the new T14 connectors as indicated in the diagram (from BCM to T14)

@ciclo thx very much for clearing it up about the parking lights !! 👍🏻👍🏻
What do you think about the DRL ? I can take them from the lower bumper and place it 14 pins connector like the diagram. But when I take it to contact one (without starting the engine) they light up, and there is no difference when I take the light switch to the first position...

Like iichel already said my bcm is already Max There is no need for a bcm max wiring (088b is already bcm max for pr 7L6 with start/stop). There is however a need for can gateway replacement (removal)

I meant that the best solution is to connect everything through BCM. In Poland I have seen many cars with Bi-Xenons connected by adapters and in all cases there were problems (with DRL lights, power of light bulbs, cornering lights etc.).

Bcm part number:
Address 09: Cent. Elect. (J519) Labels:. 6R0-937-08x-09.clb
Part No SW: 6R0 937 088 B HW: 6R0 937 088 B

Like already said, this bcm needs to be replaced. It does not support LED headlights. More specifically, the LED DRL pwm is not the right value, and it's missing a pair of pins to T14/14. The eeprom probably also doesn't support LED dipped beam.

@iichel thx, I know my part number, I meant which bcm (part number) do I need. With which letter has it to end ?

Can somebody tell me what I have to do for the BCM swap, tutorial ? Manual ?
