Would anyone happen to know where I can get the above part or even how to identify it to buy the right one. I bought the one I thought was correct from eBay and it wasn't the right part. My poor wee Polo always blows hot. Would love to get it sorted.
Also, how easy is it to replace the cigarette lighter socket? Can a generic one be fitted?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help!

Hiya, thanks for replying.
She's a 2003 Polo S.
I'm unsure as to which plug you are talking about?

It will be the power/control plug that connects to that motor.
I changed one in my old Passat once, after storing it in the boot until things got just too uncomfortable which lead to us needing to stop off at Gretna retail place to let the inside of the car cool down!!

If you are going to replace it you might as well remove the old one to be sure of getting the correct part. Mine (2002) was an oval plug connector but not sure about yours. I managed to find a Hella part that was cheaper than VW and it seems to have done the job.
Re: Trying to source a heating control flap mechanism?
Is it easy enough to replace by Joe Public? I'm quite good technically so I could probably manage it if its not major car knowledge required. I think I'll have a look at YouTube!

I think that the ability to work in confined spaces and by feel alone, works for these jobs, plus ladles full of tenacity - and a positive attitude!
