Turbo Whistle

Post by des_pd_ tdi »

You guys with Turbos: can you hear the turbo whistle for a short time? I can and wondering if this is normal? Done 1000 miles with no problem so far. *touch wood*
Yes I can hear mine between 1200 and 2500, quite noticable but I like the noise and keep it in that powerband all the time. Especially good if you drive between two buildings, the sound is amplified.

Childish I know.

Good to hear!

I have driven my bro's Golf GTI turbo and didn't hear the whistle and also my old A3 1.8T, so I was just worried.

The turbo charger on the 1.8T is a low pressure so you can hardly hear it.

Much better than the V5 then. It surprised me jumping from a Golf to a Polo. Gets better the more miles you put on the engine, I'm upto 8000 now. Be warned though check your Oil reguarly.
