6C GTI OEM brake upgrade?

Post by ryan-6c »

Hi,
since I've had my gti remaped I've felt that the brakes are lacking.
I've had a look round at BBK but I cant justify the price.

Was wondering if someone could shed some light on if there are any oem solutions.

Mk4 r32 and cupra brembos are what I'm thinking of but idk if they will fit relatively easily? Any other options? If anyone can help will be appreciated!

The seat leon cupra brembo are a fairly straightforward fit.

They bolt up fine. Just need 15mm spacers on stock wheels and brake lines.

I'd also recommend finding some 256mm vented rears to settle rear end down a bit.

From what I've seen, a complete set of mk4 Golf R32/A3 3.2 Quattro is hard to find and won't be very cheap, considering they may need a rebuild. New rotors are notoriously expensive, at least OEM ones, as they are two piece semi-floating ones with aluminium hub. I remember checking for Ibiza Cupra Brembos at some points out of curiosity, no caliper carriers or new rotors needed if you already have 312mm rotors, but it seems they too are hard to find.

New OEM parts will likely be as expensive as an aftermarket BBK, or even more expensive. Aftermarket BBKs start at about 1000€ (V-Maxx) with the more well-known brands like Brembo starting at just below 1500€.

I recommend this thread which explores pretty much every thinkable option from other VAG cars and explains which parts are needed, price for each part, as well as some aftermarket options. It's in German but Google Translate works well: https://www.ibiza-forum.de/index.php/Th ... /?pageNo=2
