Guys new to the forum, hope I can add to as well as learning. Recently bought a 68 reg Polo SE and want to improve headlights. I have managed to change high beam but struggling to get to low bulbs. Can anyone point me to any ‘how to’ videos or instructions please? Car has the separate bulbs for low/high. Thanks in advance Mick.

Hello its very simple you have to take off headlights. It has two h7 lamps for high and low. The headlights its very easy to get them off with two screws. See the manual its easy! I installed in hi and low Philips diamond vision and the have good looking white look.

Thanks, there appears to be more than 2 screws to remove, are you able to show a photo please?
When you refer to the manual, do you mean the owners handbook that comes with the car? If so it is not in mine, wonder if different countries have different content?

Instructions for removing the headlamp units from the owner’s manual (in the index it should be under ‘headlights -> removing and installing the headlights’).
‘
First read and observe the introductory information and safety warnings⇒Introduction
The headlight needs to be removed in order to change a bulb.
You will need the screwdriver with the Torx bit from the vehicle tool kit to remove the headlights ⇒ Vehicle toolkit .

Is the metal plate on top of the headlight unit separate and needs to be removed to gain access to headlight securing screws?

The black metal plate stays connected to the car. Basically the headlight slots in underneath and there are two torx screws that secure the light to the metal plate, to keep it from falling out. So in that photo, you undo the screw to the top-right (just before the red body work starts) and then you also undo the one just below the washer reservoir cap. And that's it. Then push the headlight forward, it'll pop out of the clips located on the under side, and then it takes a bit of jiggling. And unclip the connector at the rear.
I did mine the other day, and did a bit of cleaning whilst the light units were out. Took like 15 minutes per side to get it out, clean, replace the bulb and refit.
