Switching out headunit for a RCD 330

Post by JonasH99 »

Hi all,

I am thinking about switching out my headunit out for a RCD 330.

But then i thought about TPMS and the other features i have under the "Car" function, will i then lose them?

It's a 6C from 2016

I'm 99% sure the RCD330 is not compatible with the 6c.

Any reason why you want the RCD330?

What screen size do you have currently?

Same as mine. Unfortunately any non oem screen will not let you access many car features such as adjusting coming leaving home, wipers etc and more importantly will not let you reset the tpms in case of low pressure and turn off traction control (if that’s a thing you do [emoji39]). I really want to upgrade to a 6.5 inch unit (composition media) with CarPlay and parking sensors but that seems to be a pain as it’s not just a plug and play deal, I don’t know if it’s possible and/or worth the price. If anyone else knows more I’m happy to hear [emoji846]

Without haven seen it or anything i am almost sure that the Alpine and Pioneer headunits that are made specifically for the Polo 6C will do it buuuuuut they're both like 1,1k gbp.

Personally i think that is way tooo much for a radio i can't bring with me if i get insane and switch out my Polo :D

Just got an mail from a danish pioneer shop and they said these radios will work with TPSM:
https://www.pioneershop.dk/produkter/22 ... _174%22%7D
(i know it's danish but then you can get the model numbers)

and then you will need one of these perhaps you want red or white light in the buttons:
Red light: https://www.pioneershop.dk/produkter/38 ... l-vw-polo/
White light: https://www.pioneershop.dk/produkter/38 ... l-vw-polo/

and then you need an new USB adapter:
https://www.pioneershop.dk/produkter/38 ... er-til-vw/

sooo this adds up to around 1,1k+ gbp again...

If installing an oem 6.5 inch screen would be possible I would go that route. But I don’t know the cost of that nor if that’s possible. So I’ll just use a phone mount and Bluetooth for now [emoji39]

I am finding that they are all compatible. I bought a vw discover MIB2 for my 2012 polo. Yes the quad lock did not fit. But I went on a website called AliExpress where I was able to buy an adapter kit which works perfectly

Have you got any photos? Do extra car features like TPMS, camera/Park Pilot, trip computer etc work?
