Hi Fellow Forum Members,
Looking for some help please....
I have a 52 reg 1.2s Polo and it has just managed to pass its MOT a few days ago. The issue which is intermittent is the air bag light in the dashboard, it comes on bright when starting the car as normal, but stays on with very dim brightness and sometimes it flickers a little.
I have been told that there is a problem with the instrument cluster.
Can anyone point me to any possible causes for this issue.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Dim Airbag Light
Most if not all problems like this being blamed on the instrument cluster/pod will be poor/bad connections caused by either corroded or loose plug-socket pins, or more likely by "dry joints" due to the solder cracking.
If you are happy enough to work on a removed instrument cluster/pod, then I'd think that you could sort this out by re-flowing any/all suspect joints on the PCB.

Re: Dim Airbag Light
Thank you RUM4MO.
Could anything else cause this issue?
I'm not an electrician, so I'd have to rely on the assistance of an auto electrician. I'm not happy to pay the large labour charge by VW dealer, considering the car is only worth about £650.
Would you know anyone around NW London area?
Thanks again,Jay
