Does the 2018 Polo have lane-keep assist?

Post by Nervousrhino »

Have been debating between 2018 Fiesta and 2018 Polo (SE with lots of extras), automatic as it makes me a lot less stressed! I actually had a 2017 auto Fiesta but the reason I’m looking for a new car is it broke down on me twice in the first 2 weeks of owning it, so whilst I loved it when it worked I’m obviously wary of getting another one.

In terms of deciding between the cars I’m finding it really hard to choose so it may come down to really slim margins, and this may be one of them..does the 2018 Polo have lane-keep assist? I would be getting the car with adaptive cruise control, front assist, distance monitoring, auto emergency brake, blind spot assist, I have never seen a car with these features but no lane-keep assist or at least lane departure detection. I can’t find it mentioned on any specs, I found a random website article that mentions it doesn’t have it, but then another random website article claims it does have it and the Polo manual mentions it.

So I would be grateful with a 2018 Polo could let me know if it has lane-keep assist or lane-departure detection. Thanks

I believe it does have it, but I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps a call to a dealership can clarify this?

No, 2018 doesn’t have lane-assist. It is optional starting 01/2020

As part of the Driver Alert System, Lane Deviation is part of the system based on the brochure. This is included in the SE model upwards.

The SE has Driver Alert as standard (standard on all models);
The Driver Alert system monitors driver behaviour. As soon as it detects unusual driving patterns, such
as lane deviation or erratic steering movements, it recommends taking a break via visual and acoustic signals. Standard on all models.

But Lane Assist is an extra cost option, bundled together with Blind Spot detection, Rear Traffic Alert and Electric mirrors. Details from the current price list;
Lane Assist, camera controlled warning system should the vehicle drift out of its lane.
Radar sensor controlled warning system for lane changing and blind spots. The system also sees fast approaching vehicles in adjacent lanes with visual warning via light in door mirror housing. Rear traffic alert monitors the area to the rear and both sides when in reverse gear. If it detects a vehicle moving towards you, the system provides audio and visual warnings and will initiate braking if necessary. Electrically heated, adjustable and foldable door mirrors and reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on passenger’s side

I’m assuming that by lane keep assist, the OP is referring to Lane Assist, and understanding whether or not it’s standard on the SE model, rather than the Driver Alert System.
