Yep, saw this in Auto Express along with the associated Passat pics. The front end is believed to be pure Golf Mk5, front bumpers, lights, bonnet, wings etc. The rear should be heading in the direction of the Pheaton I think.

The idea is that the next Passat will head more upmarket towards the Pheaton, and the Bora will also move up and go some way towards taking the Passat's position in the market, ie. luxury saloon, perfect for company car fodder etc. It'd be better than a V****all V**tra at least...

Showed my parents (Bora owners) the pics of the disguised next-gen Bora and explained the above. They don't like it!! They don't much like the Golf Mk5 either, funnily enough. Nutters.

So, 2005 is gonna see a new Polo, a new Passat, new Bora and the Golf CC? Gonna be a busy year for VW!

so is it like a Golf with a bigger boot stuck on the back?
hope the back end is not like the mk5 golf, a high black plastic lining at the bottom of the bumper.

From what I've seen, the facelifts all seem to incorporate the New Golf front end or something very close. No real character between the new cars. A bit boring IMO :?.

Well Jetta DOES basically mean Golf Saloon mate :D

I'm having trouble calling the difference on this VS the Passat however... seems to be missing the tiny rear quarterlight and that's about all..

Are you sure that's not some American trashmobile?

Doesn't look very VW like to me...I recognise the wheels and thats about it!

I believe the Auto Express article carrying the same pics said something about "weight-testing". Perhaps the trailer has something to do with that?

What's interesting is that a photo of the rear clusters have been on the *front page* of VW's press site for the past six months or so, and no one seems to have noticed...
