Polo locks itself with me in it (not started yet)

Post by mart »

Hi,

So my polo has this issue where it locks itself even when I'm in it (or not). This happens when I centrally unlocked the car using the remote and not started the car yet. It randomly locks all the doors (central lock) for some reason and i'm not sure why it does so. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Today I was fixing another issue in the front of the car around the battery and even when not touching the car / battery it locked. I quickly unlocked it to prevent the alarm from going off but within a few seconds it happened again, this repeated for a few times until i decided to ignore the issue and leave it locked. (alarm did not go off so i didn't care). Now the fact that i was working in the battery area triggered me somehow but i did not touch the car in what way at the moment of switching so not sure why this happened so oftenly.

Any suggestions?

By the way, it may or may not have anything to do with it, my rear right window randomly rolls down when the car is started. I disconnected the button from the controller but it still happens sometimes unless i lock it in the driver seat. If you have suggestions for this as well they are welcome too ;)

Thanks!

All VW Group cars with remote central locking, manufactured since at least 2000 have as standard a feature that re-locks the car if the driver's door or maybe even the hatch or another door, has been opened within maybe 3 minutes of pressing the "unlock" button.

So, I think that you have a fault in the driver's door lock and because of that, the car's CCM is not registering that the driver's door has been opened.

Have you found that the interior light does or does not switch on when the driver's door is opened?

Maybe open the hatch within the initial 3 minutes and see if the car stays unlocked, also check the same with other doors one by one.

Edit:- this was intended to be a security feature to protect the car if you accidentally unlocked the car and walked away from it.
