Issues inc vibration and humming noise resolution! BW19 KTP

Post by nathan.larose »

Hi all,
I just thought I’d add to this thread that I have successfully rejected my GTI + and got my deposit back.
It was not an easy process. I launched the vehicle rejection procedure in August and I have only just received my deposit back.
Issues I had with car
Vibration noise in sport mode
Boot would not close properly
Rear lights shattered
Humming noise when braking and reversing slowly
Issue with Bluetooth repeating

I had to use the financial ombudsman service as VW’s 8 week resolution date expired. I can see that my car has been re-sold. I’m sorry if you own BW19 KTP. It was a fantastic fantastic car. Just not a very good example.

Thank you to all of you on here who have helped, guided, and entertained me whilst I owned my polo. If anybody would like to go down the same route, please don’t give in! Happy new year to all!

Good you got the outcome you were hoping for and happy New Year to you too.

Looking at your list of issues, if as you’ve said the GTI+ is a fantastic car and some of the issues looked to have an easy fix, rejection does seem a little extreme IMO, although I concede that if a new car is plagued with issues that can’t be fixed, then rejection might be considered to be the best way forward. Also, we’re all different and have different levels of what we consider is and isn’t acceptable in terms of new car niggles. Fortunately for me, my GTI+ has been OK, aside from the occasional brake noise when reversing which doesn’t really bother me.

Looking at the specific issues with your car;
  • buzzing noise in sport mode; presumably caused by the soundaktor that creates the ‘sporty’ fake engine note. The mk7 / mk7.5 Golf also suffers from this. Either changing the engine noise to ‘Eco’ in the car settings or disconnecting the soundaktor would probably have cured this.
  • boot not closing properly; I’m assuming a simple adjustment would’ve cured this, and would’ve been covered under warranty if brought to the dealer’s attention within the first 6 months.
  • Rear lights shattered; seem to remember reading that this was sorted by the dealer on your car.
  • Brake noise when reversing; I get this occasionally. Braking efficiency isn’t affected so it doesn’t bother me. I can live with it.
  • issue with Bluetooth; can’t remember reading what your issue was, so maybe this was serious enough to warrant rejecting the car.
Good luck with whatever car you replace your GTI+ with.
