[How-to] Staging needle sweep via EEPROM

Post by Thanos »

Hello all!

I am new to this forum, let me introduce myself!
I drive a 2011 6R 1.2TDI CFWA engine and I am from the Netherlands. For some reason I have an obsession with thanos, don't ask me why.

The mods i have done so far with my car are:
  • RCD330 with external microphone
  • OEM Heated seats
  • Needle Sweep
With hopefully more to come!

I enabled needle sweep via EEPROM today and wasnt satisfied with the (lack of) guides on how to activate needle sweep by editing the EEPROM of the instument clusters which have the staging adaptation channel disabled, so I made a step by step how to guide.Enabling staging via this guide does not require desoldering the EEPROM.

I do not claim to be the person who came up with this stuff, I simply made a how to guide.

Here is the link to the guide:

Have fun!

Might be worthwhile to note this only works on VDO clusters.

Howdy!

For people who don't feel comfortable disassembling a cluster I have developed some client/server toolset which allows me to remotely access such cluster and for example read/write eeprom (or change immo, mileage etc.).

This can be done using several cheaply available canbus cables which most people already have or have easy access to.

Contact me by PM if interested.
