Polo fuse box question

Post by Wippet »

Hi,

Just recently fitted a hardwire dash cam to my wife's Polo and was wondering if what I've done is right, see attached.

I've gone for 2 empty slots for the ignition on and the always on power but noticed that the fuse slots only had one contact in? I've fitted these kits a few times but never came across this before. Would I be better to piggyback off a populated fuse slot or is what I've done ok?

Thanks in advance.

Check what the empty slots are used for.
Maybe for ACC + use the lighter/12v fuse nr54 or 55 I believe
For constant + check the fuse overview which is best

Hi,there seems to be some difference in the fuse layout depending on which model and country etc but I've piggybacked off this 20amp fuse in my last 2 R Lines with no issues..as far as I can figure it's for the 12v socket and usb sockets.

Thanks for the replies! I’ve gone for the cigarette lighter for the ignition on fuse. Still not found a home for the always on fuse. I was going to go for the infotainment system but the fuse slot was reading voltage from both sides?! So didn’t know what the correct orientation should be. Any ideas?
